Research confirms that 10-40% of children in K-12 schools have difficulty hearing teachers and other students in classroom settings. Hearing is also known to be developmental and particularly critical in primary education.
The Technology Department and Facilities and Transportation have joined together to implement audio distribution systems. These systems do not amplify sound like older systems; instead, they distribute sound evenly and encompass just the room in which they are installed.
Observations indicate that students want and request the system to be on all the time. Teacher "talk" is more relaxed as they are not tensing muscles to elevate their voice. The sound quality, whether from speech or other media played through the system is even and calming.
