Title I at Bismarck Public Schools
Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act provides financial assistance to state and local educational agencies to meet the needs of at-risk children. The goal of Title I is to provide instructional services and activities which support students in meeting the state's challenging performance standards.

What will Title I do for my child?
The Title I program will provide your child with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom.

Which schools does Title I serve?
The program serves children in elementary and secondary schools who have demonstrated that extra assistance is needed. Title I also serves children who attend parochial and private schools. The eligible Bismarck Public Schools are: Myhre, Riverside, and Wachter Middle School.

How are students selected?
Federal rules require students to be selected based on objective, uniformly applied, criteria.

In targeted schools, (Robert Miller, Dorothy Moses, Roosevelt, and Pioneer), Title I law requires that the selection of Title I students be based on objective, uniformly applied criteria given to ALL students at each grade level. The Bismarck Title I program utilizes the criteria contained in this document in consideration of student selection.

ND PASS & Pathfinder PTI (link)
North Dakota Parent Assistance and Supportive Schools (NDPASS) is a state-wide parent information resource center for parents and professionals working with children.
The Pathfinder Parent Training and Information Center(PTI)views parents as full partners in the educational process and a significant source of support and assistance to each other. The PTI's are funded by the Office of Innovation and Improvement, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), U.S. Department of Education, "to provide training and information to parents to enable such individuals to participate more effectively with professionals in meeting the educational needs of children with disabilities," as stated in PL 98-199.

ND Content Standards
ND State Content Standards & Benchmarks (link)
Content standards are public statements about what all students should know and be able to do in a curriculum area. These standards are not universal but are published by school districts, state education departments, and national entities. Often times, standards are associated with benchmarks. Benchmarks are statements of knowledge and skill that define a standard at a given developmental level (e.g., 4th grade, 8th grade, 12th grade).

District Title I Parent Advisory Council
Parent involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, meaningful communication involving student academic learning. The Bismarck Public School District collaborates with Title I parents at the district level by encouraging their participation on a Title I Parent Advisory Council. The council meets biannually to review the district parental involvement policy and the Title I parent involvement budget. We are always looking for parental input and invite you to join us.
