Grant Opportunities

The Bismarck Public Schools Foundation awards approximately $12,000/grant round or $25,000/year. The mini grant program is made possible because of the beverage contract signed in 2000 with Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola.

Conditions for receiving Classroom Mini-Grant funds:

  • Grant recipient shall agree to use BPSF grant funds solely for purpose intended and requested. If the project changes significantly from the original request, notify the BPSF immediately.
  • Within one month after the project is completed, grantees shall provide a written report evaluating the grant project and showing that the funds were used as requested and awarded.
  • Grantees shall return any unused funds from the grant award to the BPSF within one month after the project is completed. If a project cannot be implemented, the grantee shall immediately return all funds to the BPSF.
  • Any material acquired shall remain at the sponsoring school.


Grant-Making Guidelines:

  • Any Bismarck Public School teacher is eligible to apply for a Mini-Grant.
  • Any discipline, course of study or activity, which is recognized by the Bismarck Public Schools is eligible for consideration for a Mini-Grant. Requests must be consistent with the school district's mission and must be within the Bismarck Public Schools Foundation areas of interest. Areas of interest are:
    1. Special Projects which promote
      • Creativity
      • Exploration
      • Discovery
      • Investigative and strategizing techniques
    2. Enriched library and fine arts collections
    3. Scholarships for teachers
  • Grants will be considered only for projects/uses, which are approved but not funded or sufficiently funded through the Bismarck Public Schools.
  • Educators may make grant applications individually or collaboratively. Grant applications which show collaboration within a discipline or course of study or grade level are given priority.


Grant Application and Selection Process:

  • Requests for foundation funding should be submitted using the BPSF Classroom Mini-Grant application. It's recommended that the application be typewritten.
  • Application deadlines: October 1, for second and summer semester grants, and April 1, for first semester grants. Within about 45 days after the deadline, all applicants will be notified about the status of their grant request.
  • The BPSF program committee reviews application and makes recommendation to the BPSF board of directors for approval.
