What grade levels do you serve?

BECEP is for students ages 0-6 who qualify based on income level or special needs. Our 16 elementary schools serve students in grades K-6; three middle schools serve students in grades 7-9; two traditional high schools serve students grades 10-12; and our alternative high school is for students who aren't succeeding in the traditional high school setting.

Which school will my child attend?

We encourage parents and students to use this site to determine which schools a particular address is assigned to.

How do I enroll my child?

Call (701) 323-4110 to make an appointment. We will need an updated copy of immunization records, the child's birth certificate from the state (not the hospital copy), and 2 proofs of residency. We will request transcripts from your child's former school, so you don't need to do that!

Legal guardians need to fill out this form and return to their school office. If there is any additional information about the health and welfare of your child of which the school needs to be aware, please contact the school office directly.

What if I want my child to attend a different school than assigned?

Elementary (grades K-6) requests are granted on a space-available basis; forms are available on our website under the Parents link.

Secondary transfer requests (grades 7-12) are by appointment (701-323-4074) and are approved by the assistant superintendent and principals.

Do you have before or after school care?

All elementary schools offer breakfast, which provides some supervision for students before school. Secondary schools also offer breakfast.

All of our elementary schools offer an after school program. Most have BLAST, Bismarck's Life After School Time program, run by the Parks and Recreation Department, (701) 222-6455, for a fee. Four schools receive special funding to operate their own before and after school programs.

Do you have a gifted program?

We have a half-time Levels of Service teacher in each of our elementary schools. They provide resources for classroom teachers to help students. We believe all students are gifted in some way!

What school activities are provided?

For details about intramural sports in our elementary schools, call the Parks and Recreation Department, (701) 222-6455.

For information about the athletic programs in our middle schools and senior highs, call our Activities office, (701) 323-4080.

For information on our fine arts programs, call (701) 323-4082.

Is there busing in Bismarck?

Free busing is provided at certain schools and for preschool children, some special education students, and youth who live outside of the city limits. Call (701) 323-4502.

Which schools are the best?

We believe all of our schools are great! We work hard to provide a uniform curriculum that has been developed and assessed by our own teachers. Regular staff training is also conducted.
